I was reading the combat rules to Chivalry and Sorcery Rebirth and there is something that is confusing me.  On page 1-87 of the Core Rulebook under the heading "Active Defense" it states that "All active defenses cost Fatigue Points but do not require the use of Action Points."  Furthermore, it mentions that Shield Block, Weapon Parry, and Dodge (all of the active defenses) require the expenditure of Fatigue Points.

This does not make any sense to me at all.  I can't find anywhere that shows how many "Fatigue Points" are consumed by active defenses.  Furthermore, Table 7.3 Combat Actions (pg. 1-82) shows an Action Point cost for all of these active defense, which is a direct contradiction of page 1-87.  Am I correct in assuming that page 1-87 is in error and that active defenses require "Action Points" not "Fatigue Points?"  That would seem to make a lot more sense.  If I am wrong, can someone please explain to me what I am missing.  Thank you.

Hi mate,

I do not know the answer to that one, I play 2nd edition. However, Padster might hopefully see your question and answer it for you. I know he plays 4th edition with his group and is very knowledgeable in this edition.

good luck,
Shane

Hello:

I am sorry for the delay in this answer.  An active defense will cost Action Points.  The result in the defense may cause a character to loose FP if they get injured.  You are correct an active defense will cost Action Points.
